QCEC Refurbishment

The QCEC refurbishment was a challenging project for a number of different reasons.

Firstly, being a heritage listed building there were a number of constraints.

  • No damaging of existing walls while sealing and restoring them.
  • Heavily bowed heritage floors were re-used, which meant all joinery heights were to be adjustable, custom doors, and floor levelling solutions required.
  • Delicate handling with fragile float glass to external faces to protect and re-joint.

Sitting on Level 3/143 Edward Street with no ability for cranage, an old school approach of manual handling was undertaken for the project, requiring high levels of labour to finish within contract duration.
